What is the Leyds Recruitment Initiative?

Afrikaners are striving to continue to exist freely, safely and prosperously at the southern tip of Africa. The Afrikaner Foundation aims to expedite the work that is already being done to realise this vision in practice. The Leyds Recruitment Initiative specifically focuses on expediting support from abroad for the Afrikaner Foundation.  It involves the participation of supporters for this cause by acting as recruiters for the foundation. A recruiter is a person who has agreed to recruit members from abroad for the Afrikaner Foundation and has registered on the website for this purpose. Members are persons who agree to make a monthly contribution to the Afrikaner Foundation. Recruiters are compensated for their efforts based on their outputs.

The project is named after W.J. Leyds.

The project is named after W.J. Leyds.

Willem Johannes Leyds was the State Secretary of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek (the South African Republic) during the Anglo-Boer War, which lasted from 1899 to 1902. It was his task to recruit support from abroad for the Boers, also known as the Afrikaners. Leyds fulfilled his task with distinction and canvassed overwhelming support abroad for the Boers’ cause – to such an extent that, during the war, public sentiment in Europe turned strongly in favour of the Afrikaners’ quest for freedom.

The Afrikaner Foundation is a new initiative of the Solidarity Movement which aims to canvass support from abroad for Afrikaners. This support could take the form of definite action, such as a parliament adopting a motion on an issue that is of importance to Afrikaners, or in the form of cooperation with the institutions of the Solidarity Movement; or it could be in the form of financial assistance in support of specific projects. Feedback on the work of the Afrikaner Foundation and progress made with these projects is given on an ongoing basis on the foundation’s website and through newsletters.

What are funds being raised for?

The Solidarity Movement’s vision is that Afrikaners will continue to exist freely, safely and prosperously at the southern tip of Africa. In this regard, the Afrikaner Foundation plays a significant role in establishing involvement from abroad in support of this vision. The funds raised by the Afrikaner Foundation will be allocated to specific priority projects by the foundation’s trustees.

Projects include the following:

The construction of a new campus for Akademia

The development of private Afrikaans schools

The development of infrastructure in Orania

Cooperation between Afrikaners and other communities

Financial support in the form of bursaries, granted to young Afrikaners who are in financial need

Specific campaigns, such as campaigns against harmful legislation

Actions to recruit support for Afrikaners abroad
