The SCS’s strategy is twofold:
We help existing schools, public or independent, to ensure their continued existence and excellence.
We are building a new independent school system to promote sustainable growth and excellence in Afrikaans education.
The SCS believes in mother-tongue education, educational excellence, innovative thinking, the continuous improvement
of the education system and the strength of our community.

More than 14 000 teachers already have access to a variety of resources, including exam papers, tests and worksheets. All of this content is moderated, aligned with the curriculum and adaptable to any class.
Teachers also get access to the “Question Bank” (“Vraagbank”), which makes it easy to prepare quality exam papers, and it facilitates digital assessment and automates the marking process.

- Education training that inspires
The SCS is dedicated to the professional development of teachers through innovative and inspiring training initiatives. One of the highlights is our annual Leadership and Education Conference in June, where teachers from across the country come together to exchange ideas and discuss best practices.
We regularly host webinars and seminars presented by experts in the profession that empower teachers, broaden their skills, inspire them and equip them with the best international teaching practices. Training opportunities cover a wide range of topics, from curriculum development and classroom management to the integration of technology in education.
The SCS aims to equip Afrikaans teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to take on the challenges of the modern education environment and ensure their learners’ success.
- Innovative education breaks down barriers
The SCS’s teaching and learning department focuses on innovative education to develop the child as a whole and to equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge, values and mindset to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Our approach is threefold:
Our team collaborates with schools and teachers to implement effective changes and ensure a lasting impact.
We study international best practices and adapt them for our community, ensuring the use of optimal teaching methods and technologies.
Our curriculum focuses on anchoring our children locally while empowering them with the confidence and ability to be globally competitive.
- Answers for the Afrikaans education community
An excellent school forms the heart of an excellent community. In addition to developing systems, measurement tools and assessments, the SCS also focuses on teaching and learning, policies and strategic solutions for the wider South African education landscape.
We have developed several guides, such as “Die omgekeerde klaskamer” (“Flipped Classroom”), “Stasierotasie” (“Station Rotation”) and “’n Verrykte Wiskunde-kurrikulum” (“An Enriched Mathematics Curriculum”), which offer practical guidelines and strategies to optimise education. Our “Leesgids” (“Reading Guide”) promotes reading skills through structured training.
The SCS annually compiles a Matric Report that offers insight into and analyses of matriculants’ achievements, and highlights areas where focused research and support are needed.
